I tried the keyboard extension out a few times, and it actually was way slower than mouse. Is this because I don't know my coordinates well enough, my typing speed is bad, or something else?

well, i dont know your typing speed or your knowledge of coordinates, but i have had the same issue. i just dont see how it could be useful.

I use it all the time for blindfold but It is definitely easier just to click or drag. I could see it being useful though if you just don't feel like clicking or don't have room for a mouse or are impaired in some way. I think it is and essential option to cater to the masses I wouldn't be here if they didn't allow me to type. I'm grateful for this site and that feature.

I think you were not using the extension as is is combination of mouse and keys. i.e you point the square you waan move to and then click button correspondign to piece you want do the move. No need no coordinates. and I am sure it is slower to use unless you practice it .

Do you talk about keyboard extension for ultrabullet/bullet or basic keyboard input movement that you can input moves blindfold?

@ultramuddish It takes some time to learn how to use the keyboard extension well, one way to simplify things is to play most of the game with mouse and once you enter the endgame or a time scramble start using the keyboard. It should be easier to figure out when there are few pieces left on the board.

I'd like to know how you can just type SAN without any extension. I enabled keyboard input in my user profile but when I type a move (ie 'f3') to start a game nothing happens, and for instance on the analysis page typing 'e' at any point is just a hotkey to open/close the openings guide. It is like the keyboard entry setting in my profile didn't do anything.

Can you only use this when blindfold mode is also active? Or only with the extension? Or what is the secret to do it?

For me it isn't a speed or disability thing, although carpal tunnel can get to be an issue, I just prefer using the keyboard to using the mouse.
