Is this possible? No Resigners leaving and rejoin after a while!

If I play a game anonymously is quite normal that people dont resign and just leave the game if they are lost. Thats business as usual.

But now I found out that some people leaving first (so you can see this red door appearing beside their names) and after a while they suddenly rejoin the game.

I think they try to lure you away so that they are able to claim a win if you are leaving as well instead of waiting until you are able to claim a win.

This is totally crazy behaviour but it seems to exist...
I just wonder how urgent some people need a win even it is not worth anything!

Probably all the following with cause the red player icon to appear.

  • A bad internet connection.
  • Close a browser and paste the link into another browser.
  • Pressing the function Key F5 to refresh the screen.
  • A cheater going for a reference somewhere else on their computer.

The red icon feature is nice, but it should warn the player with the red icon that if the red situation continues, the game shall be stopped by the red penalty counter.

Imagine a player getting up on every move, would that not be odd?

What else can cause the player icon to turn red?

switching taps make it red i think, its definitely not a sign of cheating.

If you switch tab and the other tab is an opening-database website, I would say it is cheating.
Enough forums talk about cheating, it only gives others more ideas. So lets stop talking about cheaters and discover how it is possible to have a red icon disappear and then reappear. Obviously it is possible that it is not done on purpose and it is possible to do it on purpose.

I would like to know how many ways can the red icon appear and then return to green.

The above list is incomplete, can anyone else add to it?

red simply means that the opponent is not looking at the board right now.

My eyes are not looking at the chessboard, the icon does not turn red. Please by clear and concise.

1.) Basically what happens to their chessboard webpage?

2.) Can the webpage be minimized and still stay green?

3.) When it is red, is the webpage no longer in the foreground?

4.) If it is in the background, does it mean they could still see the chessboard?

5.) If in the background, could it be that their email or another software is in front of the chessboard?

Since it is not possible to get a list, can it be possible to get the questinos answered with a yes and no answer? Thanks....
