Is there a tutorial on how to use lichess?

@JamesBowersMusic
If you're new to Lichess I recommend sticking to quick pairing, which is the first page you click on with all the numbers.

Those numbers are time controls. They denote the amount of time each player is allocated within that game. The first number is your main block of time, given in minutes. The second number is your increment, that is the amount of time awarded per move you make. For example:

15+10 - You get 15 minutes on your clock to play the game. You additionally get 10 seconds of time added to your clock for every move you play.

These increments are particularly advantageous in a fast end game, as you can use the vast majority of your time calculating throughout the middle of your game and then rapidly gain additional time at the very end when there is less to think about.

If you're interested in learning more about tournaments, exhibitions, correspondence etc I'm happy to answer any further questions.

As far as variants are concerned, they are explained on lichess.org/variant and they're mostly thoroughly enjoyable.
