Is studying openings worth it/necessary?

If finegold spends each day of his life testing one chess coach each day, he probably would know less than 1 percent of them...

If he ment a bus Coach or one like in cheers or dan heisman(WHO seem undistinguishable) than he ist correct.

But if he means Like trainer and mentor, well Carlsen didnt far too bad with one.
