Math helps to think logically. It should be useful in all variants, because every variant has a certain way to go about the openings, mid and endgames. I don't see Math being useful only in standard chess. My opinions.

According to me....math applies for all variants of chess including standard chess in a sense that both need to be thought in a logical manner....Prolly it applies more for variants as compared to standard chess....coz standard chess can be played in millions of diff ways within a certain opening...whereas for other variants u have only certain ways a line can be proceeded.....in that sense ig maths can be highly applied to antichess more often than not....co in anti once u start an opening there r highly limited ways u can win...and hav to be precise...

Can you give an example of a position where the math is useful? Either variant or standard

Math is useful in chess if these questions come in a exam: How many squares are there in a chess board?, How many pieces are there at first? etc.

idk man, chess boards have numbers so there's gotta be lots of math in there somewhere... im sure carlsen is doing partial differentiation in his head every time he analyzes a complex position
