My current rating is not very high, but im a experienced tatics solver (+7000 exercises)
i think what can improve your way to look at tatics is by doing a lot of them, but you could try this in another account to not broke your current rating record
the trick to do many many puzzles is to go crazy and try to solve as fast as possible without worrying to much if the move is right or wrong
when you do that you'll understand that tatics is really a very small subset of chess in which
EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN TATICS IS FORCED MOVES
so my advice would be:
everytime you calculate tatics, look at the moves that look most forcing first

i'm 2000 in tactics... i much prefer taking as long as i need, or can stand, lol, to solve a tactic... i just think the thinking process is good...uh... like running around a track, etc... exercise... i don't see how solving lots of tactics and getting a low percentage rate builds skill.... on another site, a friend has a success rate of 50%; mine is 68%. he's a stronger player than me... he's also been playing a lot longer......he's a strong blitz player; i reek at blitz. so i can see how he might prefer to solve tons of tactics, yet get a low success rate.... maybe that's good for his style....

well, that's how i approach it... just wondered what others think....

Tactics are fun , the first thing is to ENJOY...
Practice makes perfect , but you need much more than tactics to become a strong player.

You were almost at 2300, so you can cross it. The real problems are levels above, with some patience and brain frying it s possible to cross 2400, but 2500 or more seems pretty much unattainable for casual players while even very strong players would suffer breaking 2700.

I think the rating is compose of time and correct answer. total_rating = time_rating + correct_rating

you should not look for strong players they improved on their on style, you should look for mentors

@doublebanzai there are more chess positions than atoms in the universe, that might be a reason why solving many positions are helpful
