Hey Venividivici321,
your post sounds like you are depressed. Why one shouldnt be in your skin?! For sure you have so many nice things in your life others could be jelauous of! Please, always look to the bright side of life. Think positive!
Being lazy is nothing bad. You dont wan to study?! Okay... You will make progress anyway - by playing and learning from own mistakes. It is a painful experience.
What about playing faster time controls? Bullet?! Blitz?! It is fun, it is not a serious challenge, you make one game after another and dont have to calculate anything. Indeed, it is hard to be motivated online: so much distraction is going around; you are not alone, I have also trouble to focus.
Whoa, there's some toxic positivity.
And incidentally OP, laziness and intuition aren't exactly synonymous...
Well, we play chess for fun, so if you're having a good time, no worries.
Me too!
Spassky was also known as lazy.
He himself jokin, gly said he was writing a book about his 1972 World Championship match against Fischer, but so far he had only finished game 2.
Thank you for providing an explanation for downvoting my post @MrPushwood
Yes, indeed, agreed: positivity is in the air. :-) Good vibes only!
But is that really toxic?! :0
I am aware what the term “toxic positivity” in psychology means.
It is the culture of portraying yourself as being happy no matter what - and also to encouraging people to always see the bright side, and not open up about anything bad.
During this crazy pandemic time people are feeling scared, confused, overwhelmed, sad and angry.
Frustration is being spread everywhere. It is just an attempt to avoid this, not more not less…
Look: we are online, we play chess, we talk here, we have a roof over our heads, we have enough to drink and to eat - it could be worse!
You dont know, how lucky you are! Let me explain.
You say, you play by intuition because you are to lazy to calculate. Intuition is actually a great thing and perfect for playing chess. Dont call yourself lazy. Its just, you are maybe not a figther with the ultimate will of winning. You take things easy and thats actually the best way to enjoy playing chess! Your intuition is leaded by your chess experience and your way of recognizing chess patterns.
Look at other players like me for example with a blitz rating of 2300 to 2400. We are still bloody patzer, but look at us how much energy we put in this game, how stressful chess is for us, calculations all over and still remain patzer in the eyes of a GM! So what?
I often admire people playing by their intuition only, sitting in a nice caffè, relaxed and enjoying the magic of chess! Believe me, there is no magic no beauty in chess anymore for the very strong players... thats the problem, when everything can be calculated and basically no questions left open.
