I resign when given extra time

Can't say I understand why so many people feel hurt or offended when given extra time...
@mkubecek You are right. I just see that my opponent has a little time left and i'm pressing the button 4 times.

I can't say I understand WHY... but I certainly feel it myself.

I've been given time in a game where I was down, but I had earlier agreed to give a takeback. I saw it as positively in the spirit of sportsmanship. Very cool.

Other times, it comes across as trolling. Another can argue "how can you complain about extra time?". The response is "the giving of time is sometimes intended as (or implies) a negative message".

Chess is a mind game if you're human. Even the best recognize this.

Also, refer to the Lichess Terms of Service (https://lichess.org/terms-of-service) regarding fair play violations:

Sledging - Whilst linked to the communications section in our Community Guidelines, this is the use of chat, draw offers, move take-back requests, time addition, or challenge to a game offers to intentionally distract or throw off an opponent or player.

So yeah, time addition is recognized as a sometimes-used tactic to distract.

GREAT! I disabled it! Thanks!
But does that mean I can't give more time or does it mean I can't receive more time -- or both?
both

Personally I don't care what the intention is or is not. I simply don't want that option, same for takeback. I'd rather have a time increment that is set before the game starts. Just a personal attitude, far from me to value judge one way or another any person who has a different one.
