@theTestoftheWest I will look. My purpose was to analyse a game I was playing (I am still playing). For that I needed to make a tree of possibilities to analyse each tangible variation of the game in order to make the best move.

@AcabaComigo PGN files store data in a tree structure. It doesn't look like a tree but it can easily be visualized as a tree.

For example: http://www.chesstree.net/ allows you to import .pgn files and visualize them as a tree that you can navigate.

Whatever you choose to use, I think you will save yourself a lot of time by using existing protocols and formats - otherwise, you will have a lot of extra work to do.

and pgn is meant for computer use identations asn sunc make no sense. Obbiously it is also text fiel and you can modify as you like with any editor. When loading to a chess program it will probablly take all extra chracter away before parsing.

And as it formal text making pritnting how ever you like it shoudl not be hard and there is at least one. Dunno if it work with current lichess as this not very new
