How to set up two-factor authentication?

I got a message from Lichess telling me to set two-factor authentication. I tried several times, but I couldn't do it. Could someone explain to me how I should do it?

Best regards
Manchester

and if you have it, can you still auto-login on your browser?

Wait for three-factor authentication instead. All your precious games must be kept safe.

  1. Download a 2fa app on your device and create an account there
  2. Go to https://lichess.org/account/twofactor and scan the qr code with the 2fa app or add the secret code manually
  3. Name the newly created online account after Lichess and choose its logo

I was under the impression you wanted to "set up a 2 factor authentication".

I don't think this would be possible. As it would undermine the whole purpose of the process in some sense, wouldn't it?
