I have a few bot accounts and there are a few key steps:
- Make a new lichess account and don't play any games with it.
- Go to oauth.lichess.org/oauth/authorize?response_type=code&redirect_uri=https%3A%2F%2Feasychess.herokuapp.com%2Fauth%2Flichess%2Fbot%2Fcallback&scope=challenge%3Aread%20challenge%3Awrite%20bot%3Aplay&client_id=9cnHLPLnZkKXrY8F and allow the site access to your account as a lichess bot. It will upgrade it to a BOT account. When done refresh all lichess pages and you should see the purple BOT tag by your username.
- You can use easychess as a client to play moves for your bot, but there are a few drawbacks: 1. You are limited to just the engine easychess uses, which is a weaker stockfish. 2. You are using the server's computing power, nso the calculation will be slower and not as deep as other bots. If you want a stronger bot with various engines there are a few options:
A: You can play as what's called a 'centaur'. Essentially you do what many cheaters do where you load the engine of your choice into the GUI of your choice and manually input moves into games (I recommend nibbler). This is allowed because you account is a bot account and can be a fun way to learn about engines and how they look at positions. Additionally you can try openings you like this way. Keep in mind, you are NOT allowed to do this from a standard lichess account, it must be upgraded to a bot account as I mentioned above.
B: You can use a variety of programs but the easiest in my opinion is "lichess-bot-master". This program will load different engines from your computer and use your own computer's hardware to calculate and play the moves through lichess. Be warned, you should have some computer experience to use this method as it is trickier. To start, look up lichess bot master on google. there are several github pages and YouTube videos explaining the process.

Also, there have been 3-4 forums asking exactly this in the last two weeks alone. If you google your question + lichess, you will certainly find plenty of answers.
