How to handle tilt?

In 2 games i had lag and lost. I got tilted and played other games.I played most terrible games in my life, i had no idea what i was doing, i played like me when i was 1700, random moves, droped from 1860 to 1770 in a day. I dont know how to keep calm or stop playing. Any advice?

You have to take a break. If you can't walk away, I might suggest you play the computer at a level low enough to guarantee a win.

Study, practice other things, go for a walk, meditate, listen to music... good luck!

The best way to handle tilt is to stop playing as soon as you recognize the signs. Just stop and do literally anything else.

I learned this the tough way the other day when I got tilted and lost 600 tactics points in one day.

Here's an answer from poker: increase your knowledge. But in chess... just play bullet. :) All the answers are good but Scribbles is right.

I mention poker because it's a classic game to easily tilt at. The answer of increasing knowledge is because a lot of times people get upset when something normal happens (in poker), that doesn't seem right. (I.e., a draw out for the opponent.) However that shouldn't tilt you because it happens a certain frequency. For instance a 10% chance will happen often enough. . . But the frequent idiosyncrasy is to feel like it should not ever happen,. . . Hence the tilt.

Different game but poker theory, especially in regards to psychology, is often helpful in chess.

Or two other answers; don't take it seriously, or -- always win!

Of course the best is a balance so, yeah just take breaks. And keep posting.

Whenever you lose a game, stop and analyse it.

If there is an underlying psychological problem that keeps your mind occupied (like anxiety and worry over another matter or there is something you have to do but you keep postponing it etc), it won't go away until you fix or forget it somehow. If you're simply tired, you need to take a break like others have suggested.
