Another free alternative is the Tarrasch GUI. That program supports creating a database. It also supports creating an opening book and has features to practice your openings. You create the opening book for Tarrasch as a PGN file, which it automatically "compiles". Tarrasch supports UCI engines and comes with Stockfish and several others.
I downloaded lc0 and its weights file and that works with Tarrasch. I also downloaded all the Maias weight files and that also works. Hence, there are various options for playing a game against the engine of your choice after leaving the opening book.

#11. and all other software or online resources suggestions so far.
Anybody who has experience with any about the differences between databases and book digestion of databases, among those, anybody who had some questions about the particular implementations in their software, and some exposure to some precious code correlated documents of any flavor (blog, advertising, feature page, faq, manual, in software dialog box, etc...
What does "popularity" in the book mean for each and all of those software claiming to deal with data base and their book digestion (projection in a loose sense).
Anybody who can translate me is welcome to help me too. I seek to be able to interpret more than have an opinion on the particular choice of digestion (handling of various category levels of duplicates is a key issue).
Also, less urgent or important but still interesting (actually i dream of interactive graph based books, but that's not for my lifetime so ...). Transposition handling of those software too.
