How to add time to opponent during a rated game?

I remember reading about this. And if my memory is correct, then there is a way, but I couldn't find it.

Tell them in the chat that you want to add time to their clock, but you can't because they keep playing moves. Ask them to refrain from playing a move for 40 seconds. Then you leave them waiting and see how long they're willing to wait; that's how you farm them for rating really easy. This is the pro way to add time to your rivals.

Your opponent may have adding time disabled in their settings, in which case I believe you cannot add time.

EDIT: check your own settings too. https://lichess.org/account/preferences/chess-clock Perhaps you have adding time enabled for casual games only.

I have the feature enabled.
But I never seen the button to add time to my opponents.

I only play rapid/classical, but maybe the feature isn't available on those games?

I just don't like to win on time alone.
Especially not if the game is interesting.
I know and respect that time is a valid victory condition, but it's not enjoyable.
Neither to win nor lose.

It's possible that most players have added time disabled for rated games. Possibly that was the default setting for new accounts and most players haven't changed it. (I could easily be wrong there.)

So unless you are playing someone who has enabled time to be added, you won't be able to do that.

(Please correct me, anyone, if I'm wrong. I might well be.)

@Brian-E adding time is the default Lichess setting.
I have never changed this manually.
And it's still enabled through my settings.

Curious as to how it works and what requirements Lichess have for the settings.

Lichess lacks information regarding several settings, even many moderators/developers don't know everything available on this site.
A common issues is the lack of knowledge between what the site offers and how it genuinely operates.

For all games? Or only for casual games. The latter was my impression because I don't believe I ever changed mine from that either.

@Brian-E mine is stuck on always.
Don't remember ever changing that either.
And also only remember knowing about adding time, through reading about it in others post in the feedback section.

Never seen it in a game.
Just thought about it sometime when I play, and my opponents run out of time. (Rare, normally it's the other way around)

@NaturalBornTraveller there is a + button next to your opponent’s username. You just need to press it to add time to your opponent’s clock.
