When I go to arena tournaments on my profile page, there is a tab for 'create a tournament'. Does anyone know what this is for?
As far as I can tell, there is no way for anyone to find a tournament you create. I never see anyone advertising there own tournament so I'm assuming that's not allowed. Do you have to start your own team? Thanks in advance for your help.

That button means that you can create a private arena tournament without being in a team and you invite people by sending the link of it
@chrismartennis yes, what you said is correct. People have to have access to a source that will give them the link, otherwise they will not find it. There used to be a page that would list all the custom tournaments, but soon there were so many that that had to be deleted.
Lichess will probably eventually re-implement it, but right now I guess they don't consider it a good use of their resources.

Sendig links is forbidden too. I got muted for sending a link to my team to people

to like friends who want to participate no random people
its like a private arena tournament with people who want play
create a team so itwould be easier

Thanks for the help in understanding this. It's strange that lichess acts like you can create your own public arena, then gives you no advice on how anyone can know about it or access it. If I do create a tournament, it will be a horde tournament. i have nearly 17,000 games under my belt so I'm a bit addicted lol. One thing is for sure, it won't be one of those elite things where only players with a certain rating can play. I would be for all levels.
