How do i uh like play atomic chess because i can't see the atomic chess option in the chess thing

"Create a game", then in the "Variant" dropdown, select "Atomic".

There's nothing to unlock, our features are available to everyone :)

I think that's a problem with Lichess. It's not easily apparent where the variants are located and how to create variant games. The quick pairing feature dominates the main page and people make games using that.

I think there should be a tab on top called "Variants" (where Lobby and Correspondence are located) which gives a similar tiled interface to Quick Pairing, however featuring different variants that are available on the site. More people would probably find that and variant games would likely become more popular on the website.

@JourneyLT But there's a "Custom" in the Quick paring tab, which brings you to the aforementioned Create game. Don't people notice it?

You unlock the atomic mode by playing fallout or nuking the USA.

There was a variant site based on the Lichess script where you could play variants only. I think it got taken offline, because there were only few players. variant chess seems to be unpopular compared to standart chess (which is a shame, because i thought capablanca-chess might overtake normal chess one day).

It's unlocked in story progression, you must first play subatomic chess
