The lowest is what you should aim for and it's 45.
It's hard to keep it there when you have a winning streak.
By playing Quick paires Custom controlled rating range -0 to +50, helps to prevent your rating from jumping to high.
It's not a race to reach mastery or to have a rating deviation over the recommendations or to the point it becomes temporary at 110. Best is to play in your category (know your strengths).
I've been applying this approach for a few months now and it's visible on the graph.

The difference between your highest rating and your lowest rating will also give you a large deviation in rating.
My lowest is ultrabullet at Lowest rating: 998
My highest is correspondence at Highest rating: 1944
So my peak rating deviation is ± 473.

Is the 45 enforced by fiat, or is it implicit in the algorithm? I wonder why we feel the need to add artificial limits.
Great, something else for people to compete at.

val minRating = IntRating(600)
val maxRating = IntRating(4000)
val minDeviation = 45
val variantRankableDeviation = 65
val standardRankableDeviation = 75
val provisionalDeviation = 110
val cluelessDeviation = 230
val maxDeviation = 500d
Note: Not sure what the d means in max deviation =500d.

There was an interesting post several months ago (I cannot find it), where the poster had collected data on the puzzle of the day's rating jumping around. It was pretty wild. Even if a minimum variation makes sense for humans, it probably doesn't for puzzles.
Also, I saw a contrabass flute once. MIND. BLOWN.

I don't think competing for a low RD would lead to a toxic Lichess. If anything, probably the opposite.
