Good in online chess - but only mediocre in OTB chess

Dear all,

I noticed a constant rise of my online rating here on lichess during the pandemic. Now, after the first "afterpandemic" OTB tournaments I had the mentality that I would crush most of people and get a significant rating boost, which did not happen.
Has somebody else noticed similar statistical inconveniences and can maybe try to give an answer to this problem?
First of all I play Blitz (5+0) and Rapid (10+0) here on Lichess, which is not representative for OTB chess. But it is an indicator, a direction at least. There is an inflation on lichess, I know, but the difference is around 600 elo, which I would consider a lot and too much.
Of course the ratings of other players are not up to date because of the lack of tournaments in recent times, but this is not the solution I believe.
I really want to tell you that this is by no means a problem crushing me or driving me crazy, it just would be interesting to know empirically why the things are how they are.

Thank you in advance :-)

I can't give you empirical insights or help you with your chess directly, but have you considered getting a coach? Even just a few lessons could maybe help you improve a lot.
Since you are not giving us any data to work with, there could be so many reasons why your rating did not improve greatly. Maybe you haven't played enough games, maybe you underestimated your opponents, thinking it would be a walk in the park from now on. I suspect there are reasons you can't transfer your skills and your performance from Lichess to OTB play. Talk to a stronger player, best would be a titled player given your ratings on lichess, and show him some of your recent OTB games. Also mention how bugged you are not being higher rated OTB given your ratings on lichess. They will be able to help you understand. I would not bank on people in a lichess forum helping you with your very specific problem.
Anyways, all the best for your (OTB) chess in the future.

Keep your ego in check and don't underestimate your competition next time they want to win bad too and won't let you roll over them they'll come ready for a fight.

Today I played 3 classical IRL games (90 min + 30 sec inc), usually I would just have less then 5 minutes used (of course with the increment), despite that I can win, but overall in real life, patience is generally lower, so it could be the reason

Guessing your rating from one OTB tournment is extremely unreliable indicator of rating among amateurs ( who normally play <100 games per year).

You play extremely small sample size/amount of games (high error bar with high RD ) against others who have high RD.

Play more endgames and puzzles OTB and check vs computer after you move.

I guess this applies to millions of (younger) users here.

There are literally thousands of players that will join or return to each national federation of chess 200 - 300 points better than they were two years ago' leading to deflation . You already see this year at the top some deflation as the number of players over 2700 has been decreasing a bit & the top 10 dropped 20 points but you will see it soon at other levels ... Later after a couple of years it will start increasing again
