Found an error in a puzzle. Is there any way to submit corrections on LiChess.org? • page 1/2 • General Chess Discussion • lichess.org

My issue is with Puzzle #xPk9Q.
The puzzle's move is BQ at f1, xg2+ takes WQ. Then WK xg2.

My move is not to take the WQ. Instead:
BQ at f1, f5+.
WK must h4.
BQ h5+. MATE

If my alternative makes sense, is there any way to get the puzzle updated?

even if there is a way, they're not going to be able to change it because they think that all the puzzles are good. this happens to me a lot, if this problem didn't exist I might be at 2400 instead of 2100 in puzzles :(

What are you talking about (the two of you)?

You can see this by turning on the analysis.

Really, the probability of you being right and Stockfish being wrong is pretty close to zero.

You know you can turn on analysis and drag the pieces around to see what is wrong with your ideas after missing a puzzle, right?

I realized this message could sound a little smarmy. I didn't mean it that way. Actually the first two weeks I used Lichess I didn't realize I could do that and I was creating boards and even doing "continue from here" to figure out how the computer would have played against my line, when instead I just had to click that button and try playing different moves right there in the puzzle.

If anyone reads this who actually finds a mistake in the puzzle:
You can post it in the lichess feedback forum.

I believe I saw it once, in that case the second possible line was much less clearly winning than the first one, but still a forced win eventually.

This was only reported after turning on the engine, and seeing it come to the same conclusion after playing through the critical line.

@Irmuun-V2 he did and the reason has already been explained in this thread. OP's attack fails at 2 g4. Read the post above by @TheGreatUnwashed or better yet go look at the board.

Best line here is
31. ... Qf1+ 32. Qg2 Qxg2+ 33. Kxg2 Bxe6 and black wins as he is up a piece.

Alternate proposal was
31. ... Qf1+ 32. Qg2 Qf5+ but after g4 black has no threat

And in case anyone was wondering, playing Qf5+ immediately also does not work as white then simply has Kg2

So in conclusion, the puzzle is correct and the alternative moves do not lead to a mate or other direct win.
