End Games, why do I hate them and resist trying to learn how to play them?

Hi,

I'm a low-rated, adult amateur player. I love chess and play for the sheer enjoyment of the game.

Here's a problem I'm having. I hate the end game and could use some help or encouragement about getting past it. I think it's the weakest part of my play.

Thanks.

Don't study for too long theoritical , Technical and solved endgames
Or maybe try endgame compositions , it is something everyone likes .

Also, you should play rated games and not casual, casual is just casual and who cares about casual? no one.
Tactics, alongside playing games, will be very beneficial for you if you apply yourself.

Learning endgames will make many of your games more enjoyable. You won't dread reaching an endgame and feeling helpless. Well worth the effort.

Finding the right beginner chess endings book/videos for you is key.

Dear @Steve10000 , I suggest you to check out Silman's complete endgame course. It's an endgame book divided in sections based on your level of playing strength. After studying the first chapter and maybe the second, you'll be fine for now. As amatour, try to focus also on tactics and on all the aspects of the game, and remember to play long time controls-games. Good luck!

You need to play a better middlegame. You were lost by the time you reached the endgame in this game. I wouldn't have trapped my LSB on move 11 and played Be6 or Bd7.

the problem is how to learn proper endgames, you can only learn the most basic stuff.

the real meat the complex strategic ones you learn nowhere.

and i looked at a lot of places.

sure you learn concepts of it like bad bishop and things, but how to behave like an army you really dont learn from books and videos.

not that you learn much anyway from them.

but its way too complicated.

i still hope that in some way of osmosis and trickledown i will one day master it.

Best advice. Also - The sooner you feel youre in an endgame the stronger you are as a chess player.

That video was perfect. He talks about the satisfaction of playing the end game. I connected with that. I was seeing how the end game is a different game and different way of playing on the board. I feel less "annoyed" about the end game after watching it which is what I needed. Thanks very much. :-) Great reference for me.
