Do you think trying chess traps is good in rapid or classical games?

Well, I don't think so as if your opponent knows what to do, then he/she may take advantage of the weaknesses you create.

Traps can be effective if used correctly.

No as traps dont improve your chess skill

At a lower level , chess traps might help. But as you get higher in rating, in classic or rapid games, opponent will think before taking the bait and falling for the trap, though the same may work in bullet and blitz, but for classic or rapid, it's better to be solid.

They can be useful as a way of training tactics in a portion of your games, but can hurt your development in the long run if relied on solely as a trick at the expense of solid, principled play and studying of the middle and endgame. You are correct that you may very well be inducing weaknesses in your position that a strong opponent with a defensive eye may be able to take advantage of, and you're best to consider all of your opponent's potential responses.

I don't think so as every trap has a defense to it, and it can be proved by trying all traps against stockfish.

Usually from my side , You should practice of Rapid , Blitz . it will improve you're tactic's power and improve calculation method too !!

The way I think is that I imagine the build up I aim for and the move orders that get there. Sometimes there is one with a trap in it that will gain a tempo. In that case I go for that order.

Otherwise, I play for traps mainly if I'm in a losing position and cant fight longer by normal means.

Not rapid and classical, blitz can improve your tactical skills as there is less time to think to defend and enough time to find a tactic.
