Discussion about "Aborted Game"

As it's well known that lichess temporarily bans people who abort games intentionally so that's obviously fair and square. However, I noticed that an Aborted Game is tagged as "Game Aborted" or "Game Aborted by the server" which perpetuates ambiguity. I am sorry, if lichess makes that clear somewhere and I am not able to find it but if that's not the case, what do you think?
Should it be specified who actually Aborted the game?
Like instead of "Game Aborted" or "Game Aborted by the server" it could be something like "White/Black aborted the game" or "White/Black failed to move. Game aborted by the server."
I'm curious as to what you guys think?

You can see who has the move. Only this player can abort.

Just started a game, played my first move, no reply.... Game aborted.. what’s the point?

I get this a lot playing on my phone. But many times I request a game, and nothing seems to happen, it just stays on the auto-pairing screen. And then I notice the red '1' on the little chess board in the corner, telling I have a game pending. Or sometimes I don't notice, and the game times out and aborts.

Maybe you're experiencing the flip side of that.

Tbh the mobile app seems pretty flaky to me, lots of weird stuff happens but I've stopped worrying about it.

Anyway, count yourself lucky. Yesterday I had a 30+20 classical game as black. My opponent started 1.e4, I replied ..e5 - then nothing. My opponent was online for the whole 30 minutes while his clock ran down. Sigh. Ah well, a win is a win I suppose.

Another thing that has happened to me a bunch of times -- I win a game, my opponent wants a re-match, I immediately accept, then they don't move and it times out.

I was suggesting this to sort of prevent this abort game strategy as I think it would look bad in their game history where it would say that the player has been aborting games as opposed to just "Game Aborted". I know it wouldn't be that effective but atleast it's something.

Afaik, aborted games are deleted from the game history rather quickly, so there is no need to be afraid of a bad reputation.

Yes, that has happened with me, where I was in a game but I was unaware. But sometimes some players intentionally abort games, or just don't move for unknown reasons. I think lichess could discourage this behaviour by stating that the player has been aborting games. For instance, instead of just saying "Game Aborted" the game result would say "Player Aborted the game" which would probably discourage this behaviour, as it just makes it clear who Aborted the game.
