Or actually maybe it is NOT a rule....it seems like it is only a threat.
Why does lichess not ban players who carry a 60% game completion rate?? (I'm sure their are players even lower than that, but the incident I had was with a player at 60%)
That means he/she is only finishing 6 out of every 10 games. Or to put it another way, he/she is WASTING the time of 4 out of every 10 players!!
Why does lichess think they need to keep players like that on the site?? What is the benefit of allowing them to stay?? So the players who follow the rules get annoyed??
I can not think of ONE logical reason to not immediately ban ANY player who falls below 80%. Even if the argument is "some people have bad wifi" OK, well Sorry to sound insensitive to those who live in places with bad wifi, but those people should not be playing live online chess!! Someone's wifi connection, or lack thereof, should not become MY problem! If your wifi is bad play correspondence games.

The reason I do not think they ban anyone with a 60% or lower completion rate is probably due to:
1. Enforcing it
2. People may have internet issues out of their control (like you mentioned) but to say that they should not be playing is absurd. Although it may annoy you, they have every right to try to play on this website with their bad internet and gatekeeping like this is terrible.
3. It is rather extreme to call for a ban for people for not completing online chess games that carry zero value, we are here to play chess and have fun, unfortunately we do not live in a perfect world and so we must deal with games that annoy us.
It's hard to know how Lichess enforces this possible ban. I wouldn't throw someone off at 60% though.

It's extreme to enforce a rule.....that you CLAIM is a rule??? Why even bother pretending it's a rule? Just like letting time run down, it gives you a warning but it's nonsense....also never enforced. (You have a 97% completion rate....this should annoy you)
Yes we DO come here for fun, and people who abuse other peoples time are NOT contributing to that fun!! It's flat out RUDE! You are saying to someone....."My time is more valuable than yours.....I'll start a new game and you can sit here and wait for 2 mins until this game ends"
The RULE is correct!! The unwillingness to enforce the rule is wrong!!
@LDog11 60% is OK?? Finishing just over half your games is OK? No that is a how a pathetic whiny 13yrs acts when he does not get his way. Ban them, they will learn their lesson and STOP DOING IT!! or go play somewhere else and make THAT site a worse place to play! (You have a 100% completion rate....this should annoy you too)
This reminds me of rioting we just went thru in the US over the summer. Cops did NOTHING about it, so it just continued! When they finally arrested people...it magically STOPPED!! Crazy how that works.
Well as long as it's not enforced....I guess I never have to hit the resign button ever again. I can just leave.
(I have a 100% completion rate....why it is we can all follow the rules but some people assume they do not apply to them?)
