Is it alright to set up a second account for playing when drunk or otherwise intoxicated? I tried using the guest function but most games have been either too easy or too difficult, so I'd like to play rated games that will adjust to my level in that state.

Maybe this counts as a "self-imposed handicap" but I objectively recommend to not get drunk in the first place

It sure is a handicap, because my rating usually tanks on those kind of nights lol. Thanks for the response!

I do the same, I'm 2200 blitz in good days on one account, around 1800-1900 drunk/medicated on another (chronic pain / marijuana)

Omg I just played my first rapid game on the drunk account and beat a 1670, now I'm 1900 rapid there. I'm normally around 1600... -_- Not what I intended but very funny nonetheless.

It's known that you can make other accounts, it's just not encouraged because people abuse it. I've seen some people make 2nd accounts to play blind chess.
As for me, I seem to play the same quality of chess under any influence.

I can see the potential for abuse, but that is definitely not my intention. I just want to be able to enjoy chess while intoxicated sometimes, without worrying about my rating so much. Ideally I'd just play a friend in a casual online or real life game, but that's not always a possibility.
I think Magnus' Dr. Drunkenstein account is maybe made for a similar reason. It's incredible to me how high level players manage to still play very well under the influence though.
