Counter-Attacking Chess Openings

@Masquerade The Hippo is definitely a hyper-modern opening since black does not immediately occupy the center with pawns. A classical approach is when you occupy the center with pawns right off the bat. With that in mind, playing something like the Hippo doesn't seem to suit your style, I looked at games when you had a limited amount of space and you didn't fare very well. However, you should play what you enjoy, because the important thing is to have fun. ;)

The hippo is not a defense. It is total trash. It would be an offense to all other defenses to call a trashy setup a defense.

And, as far as I know there isnt a counterattacking defense, each side has to accomplish their goals, not put their pieces in passive squares.
