Hello everyone, I would like to ask. Correspondence mode. If we started the game, and the opponent did not make the very first move, will the game be canceled or should I cancel it myself? Otherwise, in other modes there is a time limit on the first move

There are also time limits in Corr.

If you start a correspondence match where both opponents have 1 day time for thinking, your opponent has one day time for thinking to start with e4 or d4 or whatever. After waiting one day for the first move of your opponent, the match is automatically finished by system. Why should it be shorter for the first move?

I have this problem. I joined a correspondence game in which I am Black. It is marked as a 10 day game? Does this mean the entire game must be played within 10 days, or every move is allowed to take 10 days (which seems unrealistic to me)?... it has been 4 days and the opponent (White) still has not entered the first move. At this point, I no longer want to have this game hanging around my profile, but if I click on the abandon button, I am afraid I will be the one penalized for quitting... Hopefully this game will disappear off of my games list after 6 more days? It's annoying now. I even sent a message to this player asking if he intends to abandon, but no response. Anyway, as I said, I hope the system will automatically delete this sometime...

@skycloud191 that's 10 days per move man. But at some point people usually start playing faster, so the whole game only lasts two or three months. The guy has six more days to play, so maybe the game will be cancelled if he doesn't make a move.

One disadvantage to such a long time control though is that if you're winning and the guy proves to be a "notorious bitter ender" (as they say)--and is one of those schmucks who takes the whole time period to make every move when they're losing to boot--you could end up stuck in that game for centuries.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
Oh damn... 10 days per move sounds no fun... Best case scenario- it doesn't go that far and he overwaits the time limit... I guess I should have read up more about how correspondence games actually work.
Really appreciate the answers!

But after that you’ll be old enough to be president of the United States
