It's probability.
Probability uses equality and randomness when nothing is specified.
Everything required in question is stated nicely.
It asks how would a task be completed in limited amount of moves. And prerequisite knowledge is about movement of chess pieces and chess logic.
A mathematician and chess player would say there is no problem with the question. Think again and re-read the question.
Ah, I guess it's then 50%. We have two possibilities: white gets mated on move 2, or white doesn't get mated on move 2. Since nothing is specified, you say we must use equality.
Ergo, the probability is 50%.
Psss. Want to buy some lottery tickets? 50% chance of winning the jackpot!

I am not talking about probability with outcomes as only positive and negative result. Don't be BPRP!
I am talking about probability as favourable outcomes/total number of outcomes with outcomes being number of possible ways to do the thing asked in question.
