He, he! Perhaps i should get a patent on this drone-clock?
But i just described some simple basic functions and some simple aesthetic design of a clock.
Or do you think this crap looks good: http://www.digitalgametechnology.com/index.php/products/clocks1/532-dgt1002-bonus-timer

It might not look perfect, but it works very well. (though I can't confirm for that specific one since I never used it)
I like to play chess for the chess. :P

Yes of course we all like chess for chess, but it is nice to play with some quality material too.
I have nice wooden pieces that I use only for study, no blitz with the crazy gang at the cafe!
A nice wooden clock would be very pleasant too. I remember pics of the clock used in the Alekhine-Capa match, man that thing was a monster, but I'd pay big bucks to have it!

Ok not the 1927 match, but the first time they met in 1913
Would also pay big bucks for that wooden demonstration board!

Looks like they have full metal chessmen on that nice picture.
Perhaps Alekhine and Capablanca took some vodkas to relax because shutter speed was the same as time control? At least Alekhine looks a bit like this.
BTW, the Garde clock mentioned above is GDR design.
The company still exists but they gave it up making chessclocks after the Wende.
See http://www.garde.de and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_Wende
And i think such devotional objects like this real cool demonstration board or clock will cost as much as a middle class car today.

hehe, I think Alekhine looks like this cause he knew he was going to lose the game (and yes also vodka).
Nice links!

Analog chess clocks have more feeling and atmosphere (you also don't need batteries).
I still think the swedish "tower clocks" are the best chess clocks ever made for tournament use. And I still remember how it sounded when hundreds of those clocks were started at the same time.... ahhhhh, I wish I could hear it again, now it's all digital clocks.

Although I haven't used it for some time, I still have my "BHB plastic special" I got through the USCF, back in 1975. It is well used both for tourney's and many a five, ten fifteen minute speed game. It cost 19.95 and still works just fine. It is one of my most prized possessions.
