Absolutely. Point is would you just up and quit if it happened to you or would you not seek to rectify the situation and continue playing?
Kosalyov couldn't deal with authority trying to tell him how to dress. So he quit. Not something I'd do if I were serious about the event. He has said he was stressed, not enjoying himself, had expected to play White. No, his reaction was immature.

No his reaction was correct

There is nothing wrong with wearing those shorts to a tournament.

OK. Given there is nothing wrong with the shorts. They met the dress code. But @Tech you suggest his action to quit because an arbiter made a mistake along with making a foolish ethnic slur is correct???
Strongly disagree. Take the issue to the next level. Being in the right demands seeking out justice. Walking out and quitting can only mean he had no real desire to continue on playing. (For several reasons already mentioned and documented.)

This is how millennials behave. If it were me wearing shorts and I was given 15 minutes to come back with pants, I would have sprinted to the nearest person that looked around my weight and offered money to rent his pants for my game.
Failing that, I would have sought out a sewing machine and would have crafted my own pants using my shorts and spare shirts as material.

Good one ! Seriously though, ask Zurab to be the good guy and make a request of the Hotel to find a pair of slacks. Surely there is one hanging about that's his size. Promise to change at the 1st convenient time. Meanwhile get to the start of the game.

Inner please move on. You are flogging a dead horse. Or else take your trolling back to chess.com

#14, Zurab was on the appeal committee also. Taking an issue with a guy to the same guy. How would that have fared? Kosalyov had no avenue of justice and chose to let the media judge him.
Remember back a ways with Hou Yifan and her scandal. She was wrong, but she felt the only way to get a fair hearing was to expose the organizers to the public.
Are these people trying to show something corrupt or just make headlines for the drama of chess?

The Appeals committee is for much later. Yes, Hou was in the wrong imo by forfeiting and not playing. There are better ways to protest.
A hearing??. The pairings were reviewed by several independent sources and were found to be correct. There was no hearing process that took place. She did not make a formal complaint that I'm aware of. She's young, made a rash decision, much like Kosalyov. I think in later years they both will realize there are better ways to "protest" than by quitting.
Kosalyov has said he's not interested in making any complaint. At best, FIDE will give Zurab the boot.
