Cheating because several lichess tabs are open?

Hi,

I have read several forum posts of people complaining to have been labelled as cheaters and moderators asked them if they had other tabs opened while playing a game. Although I have been playing here for a few years, I have never been in this case. However I am the kind of person who has like 100 tabs open on his navigator when playing on lichess, maybe constantly 10 or 15 just from lichess analysis because I told myself I could look into this game later....

So I wanted to know. Is it a joke or is it really possible to be falsely accused because of that?

If you have an analysis board open with an engine that will be detected. You won't be banned for just having other tabs open.

So you mean I have to click on the button to make sure Stockfish is not doing the analysis, that it is not in green? But what about tabs for which the analysis is already complete?

Similarly, I usually request the computer analysis of a previous game whilst already playing the next game (only doing this when rematching the same opponent, otherwise I just take a break between games). When the analysis is ready I have a quick look at the graph and my first blunder, maybe click through one variation and close the tab again and go back to make my move. Especially in Racing Kings it helps me to prevent making opening mistakes twice in a row. It's never been detected and neither did it ever help me in the ongoing game (due to different openings for each player as white), but I wouldn't be surprised if that would be considered to be illegal as well?

@Demonolith , @RoyalManiac just to be safe, never have the analysis board open while you're playing. when you start a game, check that you don't have any tabs with the analysis board open

@RoyalManiac Your situation is cheating afaik, because you are using externel help during(!) a game.
