@jonesmh civilization without humanity is a collapse. If you don't like to type GG, you can write "thank you for the game", no matter of the result. And if you don't care about manners then why not go to pub, drink beer and make a brawl instead playing chess?

PS. Why should I thank someone for trying to beat me up with mental power, not muscle power? Chess is war. I don't think the Abyssinians said thank you to Mussolini, or shook his hand in gratitude for his attacking prowess :) Chess is an assault upon your dignity and self-esteem, if you truly understand what is going on. The goal is to crush your opponent's mind with superior mental power. It is to render him lesser. If he values his sense of his own intellectual power, he feels diminished in a painful way, if he truly understands what a game of chess is.

In bullet and blitz, people start the next game really quickly.
Also, lot of players play on mobile device, which are less chat friendly.
