Can I buy the ChessBase Mega Database and use it with a GUI other than ChessBase?

I was successful in importing the Chessbase Megabase into my iMac running Hiarcs Explorer Pro. I found the details of performing the transfer online.

So it is a little wonky, but it can be done. I purchased the Big DataBase and had to extract the actual database from the .exe before I could import it to Hiarcs. It was fairly easy, though.
