Black Lives Matter

@TCF_Namelecc It is just really funny that if you look at a graph of the trend of BLM, it has been extremely flat since..... the 2016 election....

But I completely agree that violent protesters should not be supported. I just wish there was some way to fulfill their needs quickly to restore order.
BLM advocates for "defunding" the police. Abolishing the police departments across the land.

Two things about this:

1) The legitimacy of a police force is deeply enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. Article 3 outlines our judicial system, and a police force is essential to any working judicial system (if laws protecting life and property can't be enforced, the result is anarchy). Also, the 2nd Amendment legitimizes a "well-regulated militia" to enforce order and protect the lives and property of all citizens.

2) East and West, human societies have almost without exception had police forces. This has been true since the days of ancient Greece, China, Japan, and Russia. This indicates something about social organization and human nature that's very very old, and likely as true today as it ever was. If you don't have someone to enforce order, chaos will ensue. Minneapolis might just be a test case if they follow through on their plan to fire their police force. Frankly, part of me hopes it will happen so people can see what life is like without police to protect us.
@Developmentals I reckon this won't last past this weeks news cycle because of the Riots which is a shame to the peaceful protestors.

We finally had a chance to make a positive difference.
Now instead nothing is gonna happen because of all this stupid politics.

I don't care about George Floyd's checkered past and I don't like violent riots... I don't like poorly trained cops killing people or boxing people out when they have them handcuffed on the ground. I don't blame racism... that's too easy of a scapegoat for this and doesn't account for all American lives unjustly killed each year.

None of that matters now.. Everyone has gone into bunker mode of there own individual camps... got faceless organizations talking some dumb shit about equality with no real plans or vision save throw money at this loft organization because WE CARE Sooooo much. It's a shame.

Could have really done something - but next week it will just be something else and the cycle continues. How many more people I wonder need to die before we get our shit together.
As I said before, don't worry about your favorite president. Trump isn't gonna leave no matter what. If he loses, he will blame it on the left rigging the election, and somehow will get the result overturned.

>> "Lichess is not a political organisation and we feel that equality should not be considered a political issue but a fundamental right." (this was mentioned in their post)

Now, there are appalling human rights violations is North Korea, Syria, Russia, Saudi Arabia, China, and so many other spots around the globe. Some of these violations are about race, others about religion, political opinion, sexual orientation etc. Yet I have not seen any Lichess announcements regarding any of those issues. In fact, the only 2 announcements I've seen were about climate change and BLM.

So, perhaps my initial post on this topic should have been phrased as a question:

Lichess, how do you choose what human rights issues/causes to promote?
What are the criteria and what is the decision process for that choice?

(I tried to gauge those criteria from the cartoon you posted, but could not). 2
