I agree with the comments of all who said " No mention of #3 finisher in the tournament" in the official commentary of lichess. What is up with that?

The problem is that way fewer titled players are interested into variants, and many non-titled players are stronger than titled players in some of the variants, like: crazyhouse, horde or even 3-check

Quite true. But usually titled arenas have money attached. Faster time controls and titled players is a good formula.

There are a lot of untitled players but the same players keep playing. A little fresh blood would be nice. Once titled players enter, usually others get interested too.

All variants , except 960 , are totally "alien" for Standard Chess players.
In 960 , after a "strange" opening , the middlegame and the endgame are normal.
Titled players are too busy to devote time and energy to a weird variant.
Imagine Carlsen and the GMs of the titled arenas playing Horde or Racing Kings!!!
