If the world‘s soccer champion has to be determined by means of shooting penalties after all OF COURSE it is the one and only world‘s soccer champion and not the world’s penalty champion.

Let the world champion be determined by the participation of all, including the participation of the current champion. If the current champion takes 2nd place, he will be eligible for the match. And if the match ends in a draw, then let the champion be determined at least by the number of pull-ups on the crossbar - I will accept it.

It's obvious that Carlsen is NOT better than Caruana in 100minute game, since 12 games were drawn. However in shorter games, Carlsen is able to play better than Caruana. So maybe if Caruana had been just a little better on the 100minute games to avoid the tiebreaks, maybe he was the world champion today. Oh well, better luck next time, world's second best chess player!
