Better way to expose cheaters

When cheaters get flagged, they usually get labeled by "This account violated the Lichess terms of service". IMO it is better to not let a cheater know that he is flagged, and just silently move him to the cheater pool. His/Her rating might still increase but he is not included in rankings and can't participate in tournaments either. Only people who follow him/her can play him other than the others in the cheater pool. Moreover, forums should be banned for those too, so they can't ask questions like "why is it taking me so long to find opponents" or why they can't challenge certain people etc. What do you think of this Idea?

Or even better: If they challenge honest players, they get a notification during the game that the person he/she is playing is a cheater. So then he/she can automatically abort the game and the cheater would think the game just normally got aborted.

So basically you as a lichess mod can ban a cheater without him knowing that he is banned. With that you probably prevent a potential closure of the cheaters account and lichess will automatically have more users on the site.

Cuz the thing is even though you are shadow-banned as a cheater you might figure out that you are banned in 2 mins, when your next opponent appears to be a cheater (and that you can see).

It's a good idea. The cheater's pool was already discussed on the forum but I don't know if something was done about that. It's a comedy that cheater accounts ask questions or even deny cheating. Lots of laugh.

Sorry, but cheating in chess will always be tempting.
Some years ago i didnt even know what was going on , i was playing on an anonymous website called Nexuschess.
I always thought they were honest.
btw, these cheating threads dont solve much.
If you suspect your opponents are using unfair methods, try to change your game strategy during a game, works for me on occations.
Example, if they play the caro kann against e4, try some unusual moves, try to spot key moves....
I hope it helps.

True words

@QualityZone1 Yeah good point. But the thing is if you play someone you don't know and only after lets say 20 moves you get suspicious about your opponents play, you can't really change your style that much. Only thing you can do is to play very tricky moves (but it's hard to define the correct word "tricky" as it depends on position) and see how long sb takes to play still. If he/she continues with his previous moving speed then it speaks for itself that cheating is involved. Plus, If you see a cheaters move times (you can see that when you analyze the game later on), it'd most likely be a linear graph downwards from 10 min to zero. The graph is very useful in the analyze system of lichess as some cheaters try to "think" a bit longer so that they can escape lichess cheat detecting methods. But the graph speaks for itself, if the cheater only "thinks" a bit longer on a couple of moves out of the lets say 40 move game, the graph changes it's rate of change only for a very slight amount of time. So it still looks linear. Many think they are smart doing this

As far as I know they don't see it themselves, only others see it? If you mean they'll hear it from others:

Going by the same reasoning, won't they know in that case too? Or do you mean to shadow ban them? Still they'll figure out eventually...

I just fail to see what difference this will make, like how "better"

Take the Scotch Game as an example:
Some weaker programs use the Elephant gambit as a defense.
Now the Elephant Gambit is not played much (just a guess, correct me if im wrong)
Then already at move number 4 i "suspect" something, so i play a waiting move, to identify patterns.
Sometimes weaker programs "get confused", and give up material, that will definetely spoil the cheaters intentions....

I was trying to get into the Scotch Game here, but SF level 5 prevents it. ( i made a huge Blunder in that game)
