Avatar image beside user names, how about a webcam image or video.

In the https://lichess.org/video ( Example of image before video starts https://lichess.org/video/i-5plOCg5EM?) ... we see videos inside of the lichess webpage. The image video needs to be much smaller to leave room for the chessboard.

Is there a way to send a video talky.io link in the chat, so that only the player concerned gets the link for the conference video?

I assume it is only possible using the chat icon when hovering our mouse over the user names (Which will generate an inbox message).

But what happens to the game when the player opens the inbox during a game?
They click on the conference link and get connected.
But I assume the game would have shown that the player left the game.
So it seems to me that with a friend, we need to start the video chat link and then start the game.

Before even being able to see the players an image box would need to be beside the user names (visible only during a game) with a picture or more like an avatar of the player. The avatars would have to be royalty free or created by a photographer that will create the list of images for lichess to offer as avartars to pick from. I assume this would be the first step in hope of having an image or video enabled during a game. Then maybe by clicking on the avatar image a video offer could be sent and if accepted, the video cam image would be present instead or the avatar image.

Any thoughts on the subjet idea would be nice ...

Very interesting. A simple workaround for now could be using jitsi.org in a seprate browser window from lichess.org?

You and your opponent could decide to make a call in a by the two of you chsoen channel at jitsi, and then arrange both your non-maximized webbrowserapplication with lichess.org and a second webbrowser window (much smaller sized) next to each other. Then of course your lichess.org browser window will be the active window and you hear your opponent speak and/or could have a glimspe of him or her in the minimu sized Jitsi webbrowser window next to it?

Then you get a setup something like this https://photos.app.goo.gl/StKdourQRx8qUemU9

(Only audio and just full screen lichess.org is not bad either of course)

The idea (having to webbrowser windows arranged next to each other) is the same , I guess, for any videochat application you'd want to make use of whether that's Zoom, jitsi, hangouts, skype, talky, you name it. But it remains a bot of workaround to have both in seperate browser windows opened up, matter of personal taste whether and how you woukld like it.
