Any tips on helping 1000 level players to improve

Yeah antichess is hard!

I once was a noob and I started playing a lot (with 'a lot' i mean 'a lot'). I quickly got better, even without analysing a lot. Try telling them, that they should play daily.
And (if not already done) maybe suggest them to get an account at lichess and on chess.com. (Chess.com has Good and fun puzzles (Puzzles, Puzzle Battle, Puzzle Rush) and I play chess mostly on lichess Because of the Design.)

If they don't find chess interesting, you can introduce them to other logic board games like checkers, Stratego and reversi.
