Always torn with chess and homework..

My immense desire to improve in chess is sometimes more than my love for my studies which I think is important.

Because of this I sometimes think of my homework while playing..

How can I control myself? Please help.. T.T

A little humblebrag here...

I was surprised with my score on World History Finals for first semester(10th grade).

I'm generally weaker in World History...(more on the math and science) but I got World History Finals as my highest score over my other subjects..

I got 102.something %.

I just had to release my excitement..sorry.

If you made it all the way here..then thank you for your time.. I hope I served you well. :D

I've wondered about this. (Online)Chess and video games are so addictive to me I sometimes just have to thank the good Lord that he saw fit to ensure they became popular only after I finished school. Otherwise I'm sure my grades would have suffered badly.
And Facebook, don't even get me started! I feel bad in some ways for kids these days.
I can only offer some basic common sense advice of setting well thought out goals for your academics and rules for yourself about when and how much time you are allowed to play video games and then sticking to them with NO EXCEPTIONS.
Grats on your history score.

I usually try to limit my online chess to max 10 hours a day during heavy exam periods. After that I only allow myself the occasional chess break.

I almost quit college because I used to be a chess addict. I wasted a lot of time playing chess. Today everything is ok; but I regret all that wasted time. Only now I know that studying is far more important. You're gonna have lots of time to play chess after you graduate.

Chess is more important than homework.

To compromise your education and consequently your future quality of life for chess is plain stupid. Chess is only a game whereas study is for surviving and hopefully thriving in real life.

To control yourself just remind yourself of the long term rewards that result from a good education.

I wish you well. :-)

NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN CHESS

take that rule, cherish it, write it on your heart, live by it.

I think you should put school before chess. Getting a good education will help you a lot in the future. You need to plan ahead, just like you would in a chess game.
