A place to share and collaboratively annotate chess games

Check it out here:
https://darksquares.com

It's meant to help you discover/share interesting games, share your knowledge about chess, and pick up new ideas through discussions with others.

I've found value in studying annotated games to understand stronger players' thought processes and incorporate ideas into the way I play. Taking notes on my own games and talking over games with others has been great for my overall improvement at chess, so a dedicated place with tools specifically for people to share and discuss chess games seemed like an idea worth exploring.

This is still early in development.. I'd love to hear any feedback you all have!

I absolutely love it. Its hard to find good annotated games to review. The biggest issue for me, with darksquare, was that I thought it needed either a mouse wheel or button everywhere to scroll through the games. Ill have to look on my ipad and see but clicking on each move to advance the board position is tedious. I saw you could hover over the graph but that quite wild.

Love the site and will spend some time there. Good job!

@GMScuzzBall thanks for your thoughts! You can also use the left/right arrow keys to scroll through the games. I haven't checked to see if the site works well on tablets, but will test it out later.

Some examples of how the site can be used:

Here's a blitz game between Carlsen and MVL a few months ago. Jan Gustafsson posted what I thought was a pretty informative video going over it, so I transcribed it here (source Youtube link at the top left)

One of Mikhail Tal's games that he'd annotated - The Three Rook's Sacrifice. I'd initially imported it into a lichess study (source link in the top left) but wondered what it might be like if anyone could comment on it.

A classical game I recently played on lichess, where I'd lost, and wanted a place to write my thoughts down while going over it.
