In this chess variant, opponent might start with really unusual move, and precise response is important right from the start. Not everytime is the first move "obvious" or "unimportant enough" to fit within 30 seconds. Perhaps this can happen in standard chess too, if you play 15+ minutes game and someone starts at you with g4 or something.
I suggest some alternate way to commit to a game is introduced - e.g. a button ["I'm in, just need more time"]. If you press it, the 30 seconds countdown would stop, opponent is informed, and you are in the game and can no longer abort (leaving would result in a loss).

in a blitz game, 30 seconds is more than enough to make one move. it doesn't matter if it's the first or the last, you shouldn't be spending more than 30 seconds on a single move anyway.

i dont know this variant but looks like you can atk R with N, opening up the black B which could possibly give a check in the future and blocking the Q diagonal for him. but hell yeah this variant looks complicated (can you win by checkmate or only if you bring the K up?). you should post this in the feedback forum!
blitz is probably not best time control for you, i cant imagine this getting easier once the pieces got some mobility.

That's total bullshit. This is totally up to one's decision and time management. I played thousands of 5 minute games and there is a large proportion of those where it really pays off to spend 1+ minute on a decisive move. Sometimes even more minutes (especially in Antichess).

Even to someone who doesn't play rk (like me) it is pretty obvious that the best move is nxf2. Just watch games of royal maniac....
