Question regarding 1300 elo performance

So I'm a relatively new player and from watching streams and the r/chess subreddit, had the impression that anything below 1500 is considered bad. That they constantly make blunders and have in general bad understanding of the game, etc...

However, during play I feel like that is not the case and using post game analysis I see that they in fact played decently.

For instance, take a look at this game of mine:

They only made one inaccuracy during the whole game...

My question is, are sub 1500's actually bad or do they sometimes use engines or no its been exaggerated how bad they are.

Everybody starts at 1500, so all players below 1500 are below average.
Everybody has good and bad days. On a good day a bad player can outplay a good player having a bad day.
If you suspect engine use, then use report, not the forum.

Yeah I agree, but I'm trying to understand whether this looks suspicious or not. I don't want to report someone I'm not certain is cheating.

Lets forgot about good day/bad day, I'm after what the community's perceived performance of how low rated players play like. Does the above game appear to be what you imagine a standard 1300 plays like?

It does not look suspicious to me, but feel free to report.
I myself have lost to 1300 rated players. Do not forget about good day bad day.

I have to admit that in that game your opponent played surprisingly well for his rating from move 17 untill the end. Keep in mind that the rating is not everything. This guy solves a good amout of puzzles meaning he is serious about improving. Ocasionally he might be able to make +1500 moves in a game. If he was a cheater then his rating would go quickly up. Then he would have to throw many games to keep his rating low.

I am an average player yet I put together games like the following on a regular basis. So yes, this is how average players play. I will agree that below 1500 playing ability varies tremendously player to player. Here's my recent near perfect game, and look at that attack! I felt like TAL

@angstg Thank you. I really appreciate them when they happen.

Please don't post things like this in the forums, as 1. it goes against Lichess' public shaming rules and 2.If everyone posted inthe forum every time they thought someone might be cheating, it would flood the forum. You can just report them if you want, Lichess won't ban them unless they are actually cheating so you will do no harm.

That said, I've seen 1300s put together some amazing performances. THe key to higher ratings is consistency - if they do this kind of game then blunder their queen in the next three games, that's probably why they're 1300.

In the real world , the chess rating of 1500 is very respectable and considered a solid club player, without the necessity to devote the person's entire life and being into the game of chess.

Bad is not the correct description of a 1500 player
