At times I am unable to run the computer analysis of a finished game. I am able to start it, but there is no visible progress for a long time (say, for 20 seconds) and I eventually lose patience. Do you think that it has something to do with my substandard connection, or could it be a server issue? Dear moderators, thank you in advance for your answer!

I also have noticed substantial delay..
But it is fine for my purposes. After game analysis need not be fast

In the end I had the game analysis done, but had to wait for about 20 seconds to see some traces of activity and for about 10-20 more seconds till the finish.

I mean. That isn't bad if you want good analysis.
I personally still use an old Rybka engine on my desktop. And it announces evaluations quickt but I don't trust any of then till after an hour or so.

Re FiveofSwords: Well, I download most of my games (except for the variants) and analyze many of them in detail afterwards, but a brief analysis at the website is not bad, either. Mostly it is very quick, sometimes not.

Slightly off topic GM David, but how is analysing blitz games different from analysing classical games? How much time do you devote to analysing a 5 minute game? I analyse my 10 minute games in less than 3 minutes then check with engines.
Regarding your question, I have also noticed this problem in mobile phone browser but not on computer. Sometimes it takes some time but never more than 30 seconds for engine analysis to initialise.
Thanks!

afaik, a substantial amount of game analyses are handled by privately donated machines on fishnet. i believe these delays happen when your game is sent to one of the slower machines, or maybe to one that has connection problems.
edit: slower machines like my own for example.

I use the analysis option pretty often and in the past I sometimes had analysis that were being processed very slow, but lately that did not happen to me. Lichess uses Fishnet, a distributed way of sharing the requests. I guess that is the bottleneck here.

I mostly do not spend much time on analyzing (online) blitz games, as they are not very serious. But there are some exceptions, and one also gets a lot of feedback in the opening. While I like to analyze OTB classical games with the opponents when it is possible, I am mostly just looking at the finished online games with an engine, but still keeping my brain active (asking questions) rather than leaving it as a mere spectator.
I would prefer not to go into details when describing my preparation there. After all, the opponents can read it as well, and I do not like showing my cards.

My understanding is that the slowness is due to upgrading fishnet (stockfish) here : https://github.com/lichess-org/fishnet/releases
You can see that the latest release is labeled as a bugfix, and if there are still issues I suppose we might see a 2.6.2 as well.
