The 12 Best Chess Players of All Time

@NYCeGuyEddy
I agree, Rubinstein and Capa games, especially when annotated by Chernev, are a joy to watch. I myself have learned from the Rubinstein games in “Logical Chess”
@francisco2089
While Akopian was a brilliant and talented player, his peak rank was world #11—far from #1. Shirov would have a much stronger case, and could easily be on this list.
@ARAnanth @quetumbamban
This list is players who never became world champion, as mentioned in the subtitle.

@NimzoFloridian
He was also a great player, with the Nimzo-Indian being one of the most important openings in chess.

Yeah, from about 1920 to 1934 he won or tied first in the majority of the tournaments he played. Then add that he actually added to chess theory stuff that wasn't about openings, it was about pawn structures, piece mobility, blockading, etc. He was truly remarkable and were it not for Capablanca and Alekhine he most likely would have been world champion.

Where is magnus Carlsen

This was a list of non-world champions who might have been.

You missed Efim Geller. Definitely deserving of a spot on this list.
