Antichess: 5 mistakes not to make

OpeningTacticsChess variantLichess
A blog covering mistakes people make, which aren't very well known.

It has been a long time since I wrote a blog, so forgive me if I make any mistakes.

Speaking of mistakes, this is a brief review of some mistakes people make in the opening, which aren't played a lot, so many people don't know about them.

Mistake in the Dutch Defence

This mistake in the Dutch Defence (e3 h5), could also be considered a trap black plays when they are annoyed by white's 1.e3.

It starts with black capturing everything given on offer by white, in a particular order:

The a5 move is a common mistake made by players. Black players should know how to counter it.

Mistake in the Wizard Opening

1.c4 is the Wizard opening. This mistake starts with the standard moves of c4 b5 cxb5 Na6 ... Bxf1??
Detailed move sequence:

This is done because people think that the white king can still capture the bishop and the white queen is gone to our rook. Therefore it would be better for black. But this is not the case here. Try and find the win:

Mistake in the Polish Defence

Although this one is played very rarely, it is played so this is worth noting.
It starts with e3 c5 b4 cxb4 Na3??

This is a huge blunder as it instantly loses to... Well, you should solve it as a puzzle:

Mistake in the Splitian Opening

This is actually the famous d3 trap popularised by @d3a5. It starts with the standard response to d3:

Until 10 ... f6. The winning combination to f6 is tough to calculate in a game so many players play it.

Mistake in the Waterfall Line

This line is similar to one we discussed earlier. But here, instead of Bxf1, the opponent goes for the standard response of Rxh7.

A few moves later, we have the blunder of a6??

How to avoid these traps my opponent sets?

To be fair, the accurate response to such a question is to memorise all traps possible. But this is not humanely possible.
So, the best way is to stick to lines you are comfortable with. Find transpositions of those lines in other openings too and force your opponent into such a transposition. If you successfully manage to do this, you can become the best player in the world.

Thank you and have a nice day.
