GM Matthias Blübaum is the new European Chess Champion and now the only player to have won the title twice! He finished with 8.5/11 points, just like GM Frederik Svane in 2nd place and GM Maxim Rodhstein in 3rd place, but had the better tiebreak scores. The top 20 players who weren't already qualified have secured a spot in the FIDE World Cup.

Find out more about the FIDE Women's World Chess Championship 2025 challenger, GM Tan Zhongyi, in our first preview blog! We will stream every round of the Women's World Championship from 3 to 20 April on our Twitch and YouTube channels - more details coming soon.

GM Anna Muzychuk won the FIDE Women's Grand Prix Nicosia on better tiebreaks than GM Zhu Jiner! Both players drew their games in the final round. IM Olga Badelka could have changed the outcome in favor of GM Zhu Jiner with a win over IM Stavroula Tsolakidou, but missed her chance in a complicated endgame.

Tune in now on YouTube and Twitch and watch Round 12 of the German Bundesliga, the strongest chess league in the world, with us and our host WCM Katharina Reinecke!
