Also why is my next opponent astavakra ;-; do you want me to drop early
hi, quick question about the rules regarding selecting variants for match. My opponent and I have 3 variants each, with 1 overlap. If he chooses first, he can choose the one we have in common, and I'll have to choose one from his list that I don't play, but if I choose first, I can choose the variant that overlaps, and he'll have to choose a variant from my list that he doesn't play. In this case, how to ensure fairness regarding variant selection?
#12 you snooze you lose, I guess
I already picked Rk from my opponent's list on the straightforward ground that it was on my list too and if I didn't, my opponent would (he's a specialist). I didn't much fancy his only other option (even though I'm a bit higher rated)!
@williamyen @Marlonc you can both choose the same variant in the other's list.
@okei so you can end up simply playing 12 games of the same variant?!
Ah ok I see now:
"In this way, at least one, but most likely two variants are chosen."
Hm. Easily missed fine detail, but rules are rules. I guess I'm going to fall at the first hurdle.
EDIT: Since I didn't qualify for the RK world championship (not enough games played) I can do this instead :-/
Just change your offer :)
@Marlonc or as you like
There's no reason why not... your choice doesn't effect opponent choice.
Well, in contract law there is offer and acceptance...and AFAICS my opponent hasn't been online since I tried to contact so I guess I can withdraw my offer with a clear conscience. So it'll be antichess and racing kings. Good times.
