Titled players, what did you do?

I am GP (Grand Patzer) it was very easy to get all I had to do was play!
I became CM in 2011. Do you think there will be a leap of >100 for becoming FM after all those years?

I win some tournaments every year including wins against title holders, alas there are really bad ones as well. My problem: I do not know in advance...

Here you can see my 210 evaluated tournaments:

I didn't study anything really. I read Alekhine's best games and My System. (Didn't really study, just went over the games.) As a teen, I played about 2 hours of blitz every weekday. Just by learning from those mistakes I improved. Now that I'm close to 50, my memory doesn't improve as quickly, so I don't learn from my mistakes anymore.
My positional chess and end game play are weak, but I don't have to temperament to improve. I have many books to study from, but I just can't find the motivation to study.
idk, I played higher rated people, I played in the open section in tournaments(big tourneys, some of the biggest in the country
@Sarg0n The difference between CM and FM is “only” 100 points...though that can be difficult if you have a k factor value of 10
@sargon considering not a lot of people get to your level very impressive. Its cool to see your plateau and from the looks of it your increasing in strength. Honestly if i could just reach 2100 lichess i'd be fine with that : ). I learned chess when i was like 16 and never really played tournament just bounced around a couple casual clubs and play online
By the way, the German federation demands besides 2300 Elo 2200 national rating as well, which is the „harder“ currency as I mentioned.

As I said, there are really bad tournaments. At the of 2017 I played a tournament which cost me dearly, about 50-60 Elo points...

PS: k=20, sure
