Yeah, that's the point. It is your right. Unfortunately, we get many, MANY people with the rematch syndrome. Just like the OP, sometimes even worse. A bunch of annoying whiners.
camon, rematch is one of the sign of chess. Rematch was too important in world championship that the players would clam to rematch. That is like Caruana to say: ok, I desire play other match.
rematch in chess exists because the players are fighting more just a simple game. Ego and proff who is more smart, etc...
What hepping is modern players dont care about that aspect of game. Players who like rematch, like me, dont line 'hit and run' behaviours. Maybe because we play without all attention in first game, or because get angry after a single loss. That is not too important, the important is one of signs of chess is rematch. They are in all part. Strong players, for example, dont play too much arbitrarily, they play a couple of games against your opponent...
A 'match session' is elegant, romantic and funny. Maybe talking about the game after, etc.. Online chess bring the bad habits from peoples... we play against stranger and unfriendlly persons... If not from imoral aspect, it is by individualist aspect, like the other guy was no important, not a human with same desires and emotions...
Ok one thing is that professional chess and online chess are totally different. There is a huge difference between playing a fun game online and a competitive game on the board. That’s what it is, some people seem to consider every single game online like a competitive match when it isn’t. It seems to me the solution is find players that are likeminded and play them.
Or perhaps just play a different person by moving on to a different game
So if I ignore an annoying person they'll resign? That's a double win.
What is this 1% that doesn't take that deal?

I don't think it's immoral at all. Some people don't sit at their device all day playing chess games; they have other things to do and places to go. Maybe they don't reply because their chat is off. Maybe they don't have time and are thinking about their move. Maybe they just don't want to rematch because they don't feel like it or there isn't time for it.
Punishing them once a day is enough, isn’t it? Go and get your book first to be prepared another day.
You have a (one!) deal with your (business) partner. No matter what the outcome is there‘s no auto-deal next time. Be sure to wear sackcloth and ashes when asking.
They tried to make me play a rematch I said no, no no.
There should be AI to block from yet another rematch whining thread being started. We have enough of those.
And on second tought re-match button should be removed
