There is an online chess tournament that takes place every day, it has no prizes, it is just to play. I play it just to have fun and play for a moment and most do the same, it's not competitive at all. Today, as a joke, I lose on purpose so that a friend can get on the podium, it was clearly a joke but two people called me a cheater and talked about suspending me.
The question is, do they have the right to call me that and suspend me?
Strictly speaking it's cheating? maybe, but it was a fucking joke in an online tournament, with no prizes, few players and for fun. What do you think about this situation? I was wrong?

It's referred to as game fixing in the sports world. People get paid for that shit, and yes of course it's cheating.

I clarify that it was not collusion, I simply gave up in the opening ... but the important thing is the context, I would never do that in a serious tournament

Losing on purpose is just a mind f*** to your opponent and ruins the karma in the chess world and reality ,I suggest you don't do it again. xxx

Obviously the tournament was more serious to some people than you thought. You should never throw a game in a competitive setting. The only time I would throw a game (on purpose) is if I am teaching someone.

Well you should have done it in a way that isnt so obvious like play well but make small mistakes dont hang peices out of nowhere but rather make positional mistakes or fall into well known traps or play Gambits like kings gambit but proceed to play passively and swap peices instead of attacking (Obviously this is cheating so dont do it but incase of emergency like a stranger kidnaps your family and forces you to throw your games in tournament then it is justified)
